NATURE-BASED RESIDENTIALS
Sand Sherpa is an official education partner of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Our student experiences integrate school curriculum themes with our proprietary Nomad Ways programme to further the learning and development of our young adventurers, creating hands-on desert practicals that support learning and personal growth.
Immersed in nature and with all their senses engaged, children absorb so much more knowledge in this very special environment, making the desert a truly transformative classroom.

LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE

We offer flexible residential formats, including day visits, one-night and two-night stays at our Nomad Camp. Overnight students stay in traditional Bedouin-style tents, with separate sections for boys and girls. The camp provides a safe, supervised environment for immersive desert learning.

Day visits incorporate an educational wilderness safari, tour of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve Visitor Centre followed by a quiz and select activities from the Nomad Ways programme, including floating leaves mindfulness, a memory and observation game as well as a shemagh tying demonstration. Overnight stays provide in-depth learning, with desert practicals that teach students valuable nomad skills.

DESERT CLASSROOM
At the heart of our camp lies Nomad Camp – a spacious open area where we host overnight students in traditional Bedouin-style tents. Ten nomad tents line the perimeter, with separate sections for boys and girls, fostering both comfort and a strong sense of community.
The camp provides a safe, supervised environment for immersive desert learning.

Our newly-built bathroom facilities draw inspiration from the traditional arish architecture of the nomads, crafted from palm fronds. We’ve blended traditional materials with modern amenities to create a unique space that offers both comfort and authenticity.
DISCOVER NOMAD WAYS
Nomad Ways is the world’s first curriculum-based programme founded on the knowledge, values and skills of the nomads to ensure that they are not lost in the sands of time.
The course embraces the best current ecological, conservation and self-sustaining practices. With roots in local culture and heritage, Nomad Ways inspires children of all ages through activities and stories.
We have developed a comprehensive manual, workbook and a series of inspiring stories to bring the programme to life, along with training materials, learning support and certifications. Desert practicals, such as firestarting, nomadic cooking and storytelling skills, are delivered during day visits and overnight residentials. Activities take place at Sherpa Camp and the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve Visitor Centre.
