Sand Sherpa is back in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR) for its sixth season!

We invite adventurers, families, and nature lovers to experience immersive desert camping. As the only company licensed to offer self-drive camping and overnight stays in the wilderness area of the UAE’s first national park, we’re proud to continue delivering unique eco-conscious adventures. Our goal is to help people reconnect with nature while supporting conservation efforts.

What’s new this season

This year, we’re introducing fresh elements to our popular Saturday camps. These enhancements are designed to enrich your time in the desert while staying true to our roots. Guests can now gather around a traditional three-stone fireplace for nomad-style cooking workshops. Here, you’ll discover how Bedouins once prepared meals in the wild.

Younger campers have their own special treat too! We’re hosting movie nights under the stars, complete with marshmallows and popcorn. Imagine snuggling up with your loved ones, enjoying a classic film while surrounded by the beauty of the desert night.

The morning after, guests can choose between a hawk walk with our falconers or a guided desert trek across the dunes. Both options offer a memorable start to your day, filled with adventure and discovery.

A deeper connection with the desert

These new activities join our signature experiences, which remain at the heart of the Sand Sherpa adventure. If you've camped with us before, you know that wildlife encounters are part of the journey from the moment you enter the reserve. The DDCR is home to more than 70 species of flora, 18 mammals, 26 reptile species, and over 140 bird varieties. Every drive and walk offers an opportunity to discover the desert’s diverse wildlife.

Evenings bring scorpion walks and campfire dinners under the open sky. Our wholesome bush meals include freshly made salads, grilled vegetables, fire-cooked burgers, and pizzas. After a delightful dinner, you can look forward to a hearty breakfast the next morning to fuel your adventures.

Education and conservation remain central to everything we do. By showcasing the fragile balance of the desert ecosystem, we highlight the importance of preserving this rare environment.
